Whether it is a caravan, motorhome, camper trailer or campervan that you travel in, they all have one thing in common. WATER.
Compared to a household situation, RV travellers have a number of other issues to contend with.
Firstly, chlorine is used to assist in controlling bacteria, the same as you do with a swimming pool. However, the chlorine that is used in a swimming pool has a stabiliser added which assists in preventing the chlorine from evaporating. Drinking water doesn’t! So, chlorine quickly turns to a gas and releases, leaving the water in the tanks susceptible to bacterial contamination. This is even more of a problem in hotter climates.
Another major concern is, if water has colour in it from leaves, branches, etc, (often the case from a rainwater tank). When this coloured water combines with chlorine, it creates a cancer-causing by-product called Trihalomethanes (Google THM’s). For RV’s, this is a major problem as often we fill with rain water, then travel to a town and top up our tank with water that has chlorine added.
The other side is, if the water doesn’t have chlorine, it may have bacteria. Bacteria being neither male nor female will continue to multiply in your tanks, pumps and pipe work. This can happen around every 20 minutes. 1 becomes 2, 2 to 4, 4 to 8, 8 to 16, etc. In a matter of hours, you can have thousands of them. And the warmer the better. The heat radiating off hot bitumen onto your tanks can create the perfect environment for bacteria to continue to reproduce.
So now we may have bacteria in our plumbing system, we get to the caravan park; lay our water hose on the ground and hook up to the park water supply. Unlike home where the water pipe is buried in the ground, the water hose heats up, keeping it just right for bacteria.
These are just some of the issues that effect Australian RV travellers. Nowadays, you should treat water the same as you do electricity- it is supplied to you, but it is up to you to make it safe.
The good news is there is a safe and easy solution. The B.E.S.T. INLINE Water Filter is a simple system that you can install yourself along your supply hose. They are the only Australian made system designed specifically for the Australian RV market with unique features. All water contains dirt, and all filters will slow down, but The B.E.S.T. INLINE Water Filter is reversible so you simply install it in the opposite direction, flush the dirt away, then continue to use it in the new direction.
The quality carbon used, removes most bad taste and odours giving you great tasting water. It also removes the cancer causing THM’s, while leaving the essential minerals in the water.
The B.E.S.T. Inline has a one-micron membrane to stop the parasites such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium.
And of course, B.E.S.T., which stands for Bacteria Eliminating Silver Treatment, incorporates the Original SilverSafe® process that is a complete bed of silver coated crystals at both ends of the filter. Comparisons in leading RV magazines state, “It is the SilverSafe® process which sets them apart from all others.”
What the SilverSafe® process does for you is it keeps everything bacteria free. This means there is no time limit on when replacement is required. The average person that drinks 2 litres of water per day will only drink 720 litres in one year. So with the B.E.S.T. INLINE Water Filter, which is rated to treat around 5000 litres, it is not uncommon to last several years. Priced at under $100 you can ensure you’ll have clean, safe water wherever the road may take you. See also:

NEW FREE SERVICE
I started http://www.water-alerts.com/ as free service to Australian R.V.ers because in the past years there has been an increase in the number of towns that have been put on “boil water alerts” by their water authorities due to bacterial and/or other contamination of the town’s water supply.
Obviously some travellers arrive at a town and fill up without the knowledge, and we have had others where the water alert has been issued the day they have left, after filling their tanks with the contaminated water.
At present the service is restricted to email. We simple send a text only email, no advertising, to advise of the potential problems around the country. There is a link to the actually story if that is of interest to them or they simple delete it.
This has proven to be a very popular service, so if I can assist you or your members any further with this or any other matter please contact me at your convenience.
